Organic Milk - Whats that?

Last time we have been to Tesco, my wife was looking for milk bottle which we generally take. She always finds the one by matching the label and when she didnt find, started looking for alternatives. Thats the time, she noticed that tesco sells different types like organic, skimmed, semi skimmed etc., She understood the differences in skimmed, semi-skimmed etc., but one which she asked me - What does it actually mean by Organic Milk?

I thought let me check in web for official definition, and when i saw the below links saying

http://www.organicmilk.co.uk/index.cfm/yeovalley/Farming.Home
http://www.mealsmatter.org/EatingForHealth/Topics/article.aspx?articleId=387

‘Organic’ is a legally defined quality mark, indicating that production meets the Advisory Committee on Organic Standards (ACOS) criteria. These standards emphasise animal welfare and, by avoiding artificial fertilisers, pesticides and other non-natural chemicals, and prohibiting the routine use of antibiotics and other conventional drugs, also ensure care for the environment, and promote the highest standards of food quality and safety.

It struck to me suddenly, what the above para defines is actually nothing but the Milk we drink daily in India (villages/towns) where milk man comes to house and delivers the milk which is produced the same day. (ofcourse cities are getting globalised :-) ) And i was feeling very sorry for the western world. These people never understood the life as it is given by Nature, instead they exploited it, tried to show superiority over nature by producing new inventions, defining new practices or so called standards and to have them accepted committees, rules, regulations are created. Now they are back to square 1. They are now re-defining the source with new names and to make it accepted, again new committees, rules are created.
I Pity these Western Countries and the People.

Kungfu Squirrels

Since my childhood, i like watching squirrels, thats one of my favourite hobby. I always used to dream of having them as pets, record videos of their every single move...so cute....isn't it!!

May be thats one reason, not to downgrade the directors effort, Alvin and ChipMunks was a movie which i enjoyed a lot especially with excellent dialogues and now seeing this article makes me more mad about them. Feels like becoming a Professional Photographer watching cute little creatures, one of many creations by God. watch these now....

Book i am reading...Halfway Point

Chaos: Making a New Science by James Gleick, is the book i am reading currently and Even though i am just half way through, i have become a great fan of this book. I have presented my copy to Dad and bought another to continue reading the other half of book.

Few thoughts on the half way mark....

Before i start off, i would like to pass my congratulations to the author for his excellent work. The book will never let you down and i assure you would never be willing to put the book down for a sec once you start reading it. (ofcourse you should be great fan of maths and physics).

The prologue is an excellent way of introducing the subject and the book to readers. And if you read the below lines, wowwwww would be the only answer and your nerves start resonating for reading this book ...

Where Chaos BEGINS, classical science stops. For as long as the world has had physicists inquiring into the laws of nature, it has suffered a special ignorance about disorder in the atmosphere, in the turbulent sea, in the fluctuations of wildlife populations, in the oscillations of the heart and the brain. The irregular side of nature, the discontinous and erratic side - these have been puzzles to science, or worse, monstrosities.

to be continued....

Two Great Legends.....

In this week, it may or may not be good for India w.r.t Economy, Politics etc., But in the field of Sports or more particularly Chess and Cricket (of course in Science and Technology - Moon Mission) its been a great time.

Today, one of the legends of Indian Cricket, popularly known as The Jumbo, declared his retirment. Anil Kumble is a great player with indomitable spirit of commitment and character. He is a great source of inspiration for all generations to come and also for all current, past players.

His fighting spirit can never be forgotten when he bowled for the country, with a Broken Jaw. I feel very lucky to see him live when every foot of his bowling run up is causing him pain in jaw but still bowled for the country when its needed. Actually he returned to the field from dressing room to ensure India's win in that match (Not sure though of result).

And With next test match in Nagpur, we will see another legend making his way out of the team, The most successful captain of India along with Azhar, the man with a great fighting attitude - Never Say Die. When the whole country including the press were after him, he returned to the team in style. He changed the face of Indian Cricket and Captaincy. Whatever aggression we see on the field or out of field are his contributions to Indian cricket.

Definetely for the rest of my life, if i need to keep my fighting spirit up for any reasons or mentor or guide any friends, these are the two legends whom i will never fail to quote.

My Heartful congratulations and Best wishes to them. Chak De India!!!!

One more Proud Moment...

One of the legends India has produced in the history of Sports and Games. He is another reason for every indian to be proud of on this day. He made Indian Flag fly high in the International arena, but its very sad that he has not got his share of credits when compared to a cricketer who has made a debut. He is one of the few personalities i admire.

Popularly known as Shatranj, requires High IQ levels and sharp thinking, and Viswanthan Anand also called as Vishy is yet again on the way to being crowned as World Champion.

Today the reigning World champion called the shots again and dumped Kramnik in the sixth game to extend his lead to three points at the half-way stage of what is turning out to be incredibly one-sided World Championship match.

With Wednesday's victory, Anand took his tally in the final to 4.5 points, and is now just two points away from establishing himself as a great World champion, having won the knock-out World Championship in 2001, the World championship match tournament last year. Now, this World Championship match looks as good as over.

Interesting fact is the World Championship is a 12-game match, with a prize pool of 1.5 million euros divided equally irrespective of the outcome of the match. What if the same rule applies for Cricket or Soccer World Cup !!!!!

Fourth Country in the World... Wowww

Chandrayaan will drop the Indian flag on the surface of the Moon. The country's tricolour is also painted on the side of the probe and, if successful, (Ofcourse it will be )

India will become the fourth country after the US, Russia and Japan to place its national flag on the lunar surface.

Chandrayaan - 1 lifts of Successfully - A Proud Moment

Its a great day in the history of India, its first unmanned spacecraft to moon lifts off to space sucessfully from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Another indigenous production from ISRO.
Key points to note..
  • An Indian-built launcher carrying the one-and-a-half-tonne satellite blasted off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, an island off the coast of Andhra Pradesh, at about 0620 local time (0050 GMT).
  • One key objective will be to search for surface or sub-surface water-ice on the Moon, especially at the poles.
  • Another will be to detect Helium 3, an isotope which is rare on Earth, but is sought to power nuclear fusion and could be a valuable source of energy in future.
  • Chandrayaan (the Sanskrit word for 'moon craft') will also investigate the differences between the Moon's near side and its far side. The far side is both more heavily cratered and different in composition to the one facing Earth.

Few pictures (extracted from bbc.co.uk)
1 - Chandrayaan Energetic Neutral Analyzer (CENA)
2 - Moon Impact Probe (MIP)
3 - Radiation Dose Monitor (RADOM)
4 - Terrain Mapping Camera (TMC)
5 - Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3)
6 - Chandrayaan 1 X-ray Spectrometer (C1XS)
7 - Solar Panel

The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket will loft Chandrayaan into an elliptical "transfer orbit" around Earth.
The probe will later carry out a series of engine burns to set it on a lunar trajectory.
The spacecraft coasts for about five-and-a-half days before firing the engine to slow its velocity such that it is captured by the Moon's gravity.
Chandrayaan will slip into a near-circular orbit at an altitude of 1,000km. After a number of health checks, the probe will drop its altitude until it is orbiting just 100km above the lunar surface.

Funny Scene at Work....

At work, some couple of bays away, sits few consultants. Generally, they always shout rather than talk creating inconvenience to us. Today, its at a peak with more guys visiting there and discussing loud. The irony is head of the division is among them(even though he is just a listener getting status from them) . My colleague talking to person sitting opposite, who is more nearer to them (and so, the most impacted) - "Wonderful environment to work". He replied back smiling - " Seems like everthing else is more important than what i am working". I couldn't stop laughing on hearing that...

I hate a lot people who shout at work without considering how inconvenient it would be to others. :-(

Ratatouille - Worth Watching..

Funny and good to watch. It revolves around the center theme as "Anyone can cook". Quite a few good scenes. One scene which i liked is near the climax when the Hero Rat is in trouble, father rat who is also the leader of the group says to all -

"Even though we are not happy with him being close to humans or doing things that we dont like, its the trouble time for him and We are a family. So we have to help him whatever may be".

This scene comes after the another Hero who is human is left alone by all his colleagues when he requested them to support.

Quite impressed with the timing and the way message is presented ....good!!

A Drive to Kanchi

Today morning at 6:15am, we and murali (my best friend) set out to Kanchi on Yamaha Duo - Libero (we) and RX-100 (murali). Reached there in 1 hr 15 minutes. The drive in the morning with cool breeze and no Sun on a Highway (NH-4) was a delight.
Been to 4 temples - Kamakshi, Vamana, Ekhambara, and Varadaraja Swamy. Key moments to mention - The statue of Varadaraja swamy, which was gigantic and the face is highly attractive with a beautiful smiling lips and Eyes.
Started back at 11:15am and reached home by 1:00pm.
It was overall a wonderful trip with right climate(Cloudy n Cool without HOT sun) all through the drive.
Ofcourse the main essence of drive was having My beloved wife Krishna Priya in the back seat holding me (so that i dont fly away with speed.. :-) ) and singing song from Gulabi - "Meghalaloooo Telipomandii..."

Invisible Man --- No Longer a Fantasy....

A recent reasearch in London have come up with a Rug which when swept on anything would make it invisible.. Seems Interesting...so time is not far when we can see Invisible People .. :-) The wrong side of it is -- " Knowledge gained from invisibility carpets may also be helpful for researchers trying to use metamaterials to create radar-invisible skins for ships and planes and optical computing " This will be disastrous for us, Our neighbours like China, Pak can easily cross borders and claim new territories... :-))

Interesting Question - What do you get??

Yesterday, We are having a casual chat waiting for flight from Bangalore to chennai in the airport, and the topic went around drinks and i was as usual passionate in explaining different types, and varieties. Difference between blended and single malt, various brands, their tastes etc., After few minutes, he turned around me and asked me - " What do you get on drinking?' I have no answer except to give a smile. Why people (referring to poor people like labourers etc) drink these - do they feel light? why do they waste money?". I just said its just a addiction, and moreover they may be using it as means to forget all the hardwork and labour done thru the day and sleep happily. Now friends can you answer this - What is there in it? What do you get on drinking it? - Any answers are welcome.

Good Movie - 'Disclosure'

Today have seen a movie in DVD called ' Disclosure' starring Michael Douglas and Demi Moore. The theme of the movie is to expose corporate politics for a merger between two companies. The movie revolves around main topic 'Sexual Harrassment'. Douglas files a law suit against demi moore, that she sexually harassed him. I found this interesting, generally whenever we hear word ' Sexual Harrassment' it is always assumed as Man harrassing Woman. The movie has a punch in the dialogue when the Lawyer says to Douglas that "sexual harassment is not just about sex but Power. She has the Power and you dont have."

Worth watching the movie once.

Animals or Humans - who are more civilised???

I studied in my school days that we - humans, should feel very great about being different from animals or any other living creature in this world. We have Speech/Voice, We have Brains to think, We have senses to feel. As in our Vedas or Puranas its told as “Most sacred form of life is human life”.

But I felt very sad when I saw today in TV the protests by a particular religious community in Mumbai and all parts of India. I am not against the protests, and I very much sympathize with them for some *** hurting their sentiments. But is violence the only way to show our anger or emotions.

In one of the video footages shown in CNN-IBN, people throwing stones on to moving local train, the commuters are running inside to avoid getting hurt. Have also seen all running on roads with their traditional swords and as usual no party or government condemns this but instead assured them justice. What if the person throwing stones on to train has his own kin inside and one of then gets hurt, even if not some one x gets hurt and may be dies or loses his eyes. Why are they doing this? If they are not happy with one Political or Big personality show it on him, why are they spoiling our own infrastructure where tomorrow their own children travel in them. What if tomorrow, the opposite party does the same and their kin gets affected, will they keep reciprocating.

I feel the govt should call the heads who are leading this protests, and strongly condemn these acts and of course at the same time take action on the concerned for hurting their sentiments. This is seen not just in INDIA but across the world. I always think why people lose their heads and behave in a shameless irresponsible manner. My sincere request to all, please behave as Humans not like animals, but I am sorry (for hurting sentiments of animals) may be they behave more civilized way than us.

Where are we going???

We have been hearing various so called catchy phrases like India Shining, India - Global Leader with various news of acquistions by Indian companies like TATA-Corus displaying their supremacy to the world. But today i was shocked with the statements given by the PM, Dr. Manmohan, the supreme power of the country. He simply publicly states, he is helpless in stopping oil price rise and people of the country has to bear it. How can a person who is supposed to represent the country as one, the power of India, in whose hands lies the future of largest democracy in the world say that!!! The other day when jaipur blasts occurred, he stated it is due to insufficient police forces. This is something very ridiculous and dangerous. How can he say that? He is the ruler of this country, cant he take necessary actions to increase the police force well before or find some alternatives. Is he just waiting for this jaipur blast to occur to see if this force would be sufficient or to make a statement. What message are we giving to the world - That we are a helpless, weak country with not enough police forces to the neighbours who are already looking for more oppurtunites to disturb/destroy the country.

I seriously comment on his statement and definetely do not want a PM who is nothing but a mere dummy in the hands of a european catholic. As a citizen of India and a tru patriot, i do not want to have such a man as a PM.

Guys Just Think! Please stop these dynasty driven, pseudo secular forces destroying our country and leaving it to the hands of yet again another foreigners rule, may be this time its mutliple with east and west to one and rest to Global Terrorism.

As a finance minister during 90's , i have great respect for Dr. Manmohan Singh who has made India truly Global in terms of economy, but as a PM he is not fit to be there. Take any issue -
> Terrorism increased in the last 4 years, even china advanced with his plans of claiming Arunachal, Jaipur & Hyderabad blasts, etc., and the most funny thing is our defence minister proposes PAK to release sarabjit in return for Afzal Guru, who is the prime attacker of Parliament. Firstly, this stupid govt has delayed his hanging indefinitely for their idiotic political reasons and Now they are even planning to release him.
> Inflation: I havent heard any statement of PM or any other minister taking steps to reduce the inflation. At the most i heard is FM saying its alarming, its going out pf control etc., but Nothing they could do.
>Oil price - i agree this is a global issue. but PM's statement is not acceptable.
Any thing, what is it that they have done in these 4 years nothing. PM is just a Puppet in the hands of some fanatics who in this term ensured that all public places, buildings, roads are renamed with the names of their dad/mom/husband etc.,
Please guys, think, let future of India be Bright and Strong, we need to educate people atleast within your family so that they think better and vote to the right Team.
